Dr.
Jonathan Braun, Professor and Chair for the Department of Pathology and
Laboratory Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, reviews
emerging data relating to immunoregulation in inflammatory bowel disease
and normal homeostasis in the gut. Topics discussed include the integration
of cell types other than immonoregulatory T cells and the regulatory role
of B lymphocytes in autoimmune disease models. Dr. Braun goes on to describe
the protective traits of B cells, including how these traits may have
developed.
