GERD/PPI Prevalence Research

Dr. Lawrence Cohen, Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Toronto, reviews and analyzes the results of an Ipsos-Reid poll conducted in Canada in August and September 2004, which evaluated GERD patients' perceptions of their disease, its diagnosis and treatment. He then compares these perceptions to those of treating family physicians, particularly with regard to PPI use and cost, the level of satisfaction of symptomatic relief, and the importance of speed of heartburn relief.
