of Medicine in New York, presents a case study exploring the diagnosis
and management of ulcerative proctitis (UP) and colitis (UC). Drawing
on data from recent clinical studies, Dr. Present describes the role of
topical 5-ASA as a first-line treatment and maintenance therapy for patients
with UP, as well as the role of combination oral and topical 5-ASA in
the treatment and maintenance of UC patients with persistent rectal symptoms.
